Pelosi’s head fund raiser following my blog

This just in from brian wolff, who is in charge of pelosi’s fundraising. While he thinks I got my take on pelosi’s airforce palace wrong and calls me an idiot, it is nice to see her people read blogs and don’t just occupy expensive taxpayer funded seats on super jets!

It would have taken two seconds and google to realize that your statement was ridiculous……google that you supposedly made money off of. Just goes to show that you can be a complete idiot and still make a living. Pathetic.

  1. Nothing like calling a constituent “a complete idiot” to endear them to your cause. I guess Nancy’s people don’t feel they need to worry about the individual “ant” votes to keep her at the top of the heap she’s on 😉
Is this guy really a fundraiser for her? I wonder if he has such choice words for every one who doesn’t pony up after his pitch for money for Nancy? Hmmm… welcome to the new Democrats.

  2. First, Marc is a friend who i disagree with politically on occassion.
Second, Im not her chief fundraiser.
My apologies for offending…..its just hard for me to sit back when the Republicans put out this erroneous propaganda and the Bush White House basically comes to her defense but people still get it wrong.

  3. Mark – i think you are being a little bit disingenuous here by simply crowing about the fact that your friend, Brian, posted on your blog instead of why he posted.
Brian cares about his job and about the Democratic party and obviously has expectations of you as a person to think that you would research a topic before posting a rant.
As it was, all you did was post the Rush Limbaugh right wing Republican version of the Pelosi airplane issue – and you ignored the fact that Dennis Hastert was required to have a military plane and that the White House was requiring Nancy Pelosi to have a plane too. All she wanted was to have a plane that could reach California without stopping – otherwise she would prefer to travel commercial.
Just own up to your own exuberance instead of smeating Brian.

  4. So, what I am still wondering about is why our elected representatives appear to be more valuable than the regular citizenry… What happened to the days when elected officials had to use the same transportation and deal with the same travel garbage as the rest of us? What happened to the days when our elected officials had to deal with the same health care issues and the same housing issues and the same retirement issues? When one dissociates enough of the daily experiences of the majority of the populace from the government officials, one tends to lose the true concept of representative government.
Ms. Pelosi should, as all elected members of government have to experience the same travel frustrations, the same insurance and health care obstacles, the same retirement concerns and have just as many tax write-offs as the rest of us when it comes to housing. In short, elected officials need to treat their positions as national service and not as entitlements.

BW…like it or not, the Speaker is line to succeed the President should they or the Vice President be incapacitated. That’s second in line if the President dies. For that reason, I wouldn’t want the Speaker (be it Pelosi or Hastert–the Speaker for whom this particular policy was first put into place) flying commercial. That said, your larger point about Pelosi and other elected officials having to deal with the same issues as the rest of us folk is spot on.

  6. Jerry, sure but these people are not and should not be considered royalty. You are aware that even when Tony Blair takes a vacation with his family, they fly a commercial airliner…. right? What makes US politicians so damned important?
I once heard a politician (who shall remain nameless) wondering aloud why it was that military personnel receive accolades for their service while politicians are reviled and I’d have to say that it is just this sort of thing. It is *service* to your country, not exploiting the country for your own personal gains.

  7. i’m appreciative of the thoughtful dialog this topic has inspired on this and many other blogs.
while i agree with jerry that we want to safeguard the lives of our leaders, i agree more with BW in questioning whether that includes a 50 seat plane that needs to fly cross country on one tank.
given the level of security in our airports, and the government’s new responsibility for maintaining that safety, one might think that the speaker would be safe flying commercial.
