bambi francisco says myspace is 8.2% of google’s traffic

bambi has an insightful post asking when myspace/fox will launch their own search engine. she sites an analyst who claims that myspace is now the top traffic source for google at 8.2%. this doesnt make any sense to me. i would think that sites like aol and ask would be far bigger sources.

Do they need to? icerocket.com has a search option just for myspace so … duplication of effort?

  2. People use the Google search box in their browser as the URL bar.
Most of the top search terms are now the top domain names: ebay, yahoo, aol, myspace, youtube, etc. It’s wild… makes you think folks are dumb and don’t know how to add a .com to the end of a word. However, I just think its faster for folks to just click the first google result then type the .com.
This use of search (navigation) does not result in people clicking on ads however… so, they are worthless and actually drive down CTR stats.

  3. MySpace can make much more money if they dump the current yahoo powered non-branded search box to a google powered and google branded search box…
