MSN search bites

Has anyone had the misfortune of trying msn’s lame search product? I found it so bad I had to check the url. All I had above the fold were sponsored results. What happened to chasing google? Ill have to retry yahoo to see if they’re any better. Goog still owns my searches hands down. Sent wirelessly via BlackBerry from T-Mobile.

  1. Have you tried AOL Search? It’s essentially Google search results enriched/enhanced with links to AOL content, when available.
Full disclosure: I work for AOL, but I’m curious to know what you think of their search product.

  2. Ya, I don’t think MSN is quite ready to compete with Google on the search front. Right now, it’s all about monetizing their user base. On a technical front, the MSN results are available in XHTML and RSS, which is pretty cool. But the end-user doesn’t see that.

  3. Depends on the search and your personality – few people are testing this objectively, which clearly reveals….they are all about the same, especially Google and Yahoo which are clearly equivalent in quality now, with MSN close behind. I simply don’t get why people think otherwise – have you run an objective test with several terms?
